automotive scholarship opportunities Automotive Hall of Fame Educational Fund Scholarships The program has specific scholarships for incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students. All of the scholarships are based on financial needs and with the usual minimum GPA requirement of 3.0. To be eligible for a scholarship you must: l Submit a completed application form indicating a sincere interest in an automotive career. l Provide an official transcript of all academic work. l Submit two letters of recommendation supporting your automotive interests. l Submit a letter of acceptance for an associate, bach-elor, or masters program. l Be accepted at an accredited college, university, or trade school within the United States at the time of ap-plication. Students attending a technical training school may also apply (trade school should equal a two-year associ-ate program). Student must be a United States citizen or in the Unit-ed States on a Student Visa, enrolled full-time, and have 3.0 GPA or higher. (Permanent/ legal residents and high school students are not eligible to apply.) l If currently attending a four-year accredited univer-sity or college, have completed a minimum of 50 credit hours OR l If currently attending a two-year accredited commu-nity college or vocational/technical program, have com-pleted a minimum of 25 credit hours OR l If currently attending an accredited automotive train-ing certification program, have half of total curriculum requirements/classroom hours completed. l If pursuing a Master’s, post-baccalaureate or doctor-ate degree, provide proof of acceptance or proof of enroll-ment in a graduate program. l Have a minimum 2.5 grade point average. l Be pursuing studies leading to a career in the auto-motive industry or related field. l Remain enrolled as a full-time student in the first academic term following receipt of the award. Scholarship Application “to Do” list: 1. Provide unofficial school transcripts 2. Provide one letter of recommendation: From a postsecondary teacher, administrator, or guid-ance counselor, someone who is familiar with your aca-demic performance. (A letter from a relative or friend will not be accepted.) The recommendation must be submit-ted online; a document may not be uploaded or mailed. 3. Provide two 250-word essays in response to the fol-lowing questions: a. Why do you want to pursue a career in the automo-tive aftermarket? What do you feel you can contribute to this industry? b. The automotive aftermarket is driven by the passion of the people in it. What drives you? What inspires you? Why should you be awarded a SEMA Memorial Scholar-ship? 4. Optional: You have the option to upload a drawing, sketch, or other material that supports your application or helps to express your individuality. 5. Provide personal background information: academic activities, community service, extracurricular activities, automotive-related activities, honors and awards, appli-cant work experience, and military experience. SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to fostering the next generation of automotive aftermarket industry leaders and innovators. Scholarship awards range from $2,000–$3,000, with $5,000 going to the top student. All winners will be invited to attend the annual SEMA Show. For students attending Ohio Technical Col-lege (OTC): a full-year of tuition, valued up to $29,400, will be awarded to one student! The current minimum eligibility requirements are as follows. A student must: l Be a U.S. citizen enrolled full-time in a program of study at an accredited university, college, or postsec-ondary vocational/technical program located within the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees AACA Automotive technology Scholarship Five cash scholarships, with varying requirements, are available.
